Dairy Specifications/Notices

Specifications provide technical detail or give effect to requirements in the Act or regulations.  The requirements are to be met by anyone operating under the Animal Products Act, e.g. operators of registered risk management programmes, exporters.

From the 1st June 2005, the Dairy Standards have been superseded.

Branding and Labelling

• Animal Products (Exemption of Labelling Standards for Dairy Product and Dairy Material intended for Export) Notice 2006
  The Dairy Industry (Food Act 1981) Exemption Order exempted export dairy products from New Zealand labelling requirements. This notice replaces the Exemption Order, which was repealed as part of the transition of dairy products into the Animal Products Act regime.

  • Interim Official Devices Programme 
    The interim Official Devices Programme elaborates on the requirements of the notice and maintains current procedures needed for the administration of the notice. For day to day use operators should refer to the interim programme.
  • Animal Products - Official Devices: NZFSA Container Seals
    This notification informs changes being made with respect to the identification of official seals. Specifically it announces the change from a NZMAF identifier to a NZFSA identifier; it does not require dairy exporters to use NZFSA seals where operator seals are currently being used. Dairy exporters have the option to use NZFSA seals (in place of operator seals) on consignments being exported with official assurances, and where this option is used then the changes in this notification will apply.

Notice of Exemption

• Notice of Exemption
  This notice provides an exemption from evaluation for those freight forwarders that already have a RMP for animal products (non-dairy) and wish to include dairy products.
